<p><span style="font-size: medium;">My first espresso shot was at the tender age of 3. In Puerto Rico, it&#8217;s part of the culture. Gosh no wonder I was so off the wall lol! As I got older I actually didn&#8217;t like it, and it wasn&#8217;t until I competed in a figure competition at the age of 19 when I began drinking it again because I felt I needed energy. It certainly gave me that and an ability to focus more, go longer and harder on my workouts, and definitely burn more fat.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">I personally got up to 3 large cups of coffee daily &#8211; I&#8217;m talking about 300-400mg of caffeine. Without it, I could not function. Soon enough, my health also began to decline and suffer to the point of pure exhaustion, hard time sleeping, and getting all sorts of colds, digestive issues, and so on. I figured I should get off of this stuff and substitute it with green tea instead since it provides you with lots of antioxidant benefits and a more calm and constant sense of energy.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">I can honestly say, It was quite the process to get off coffee, and can&#8217;t say I completely have. Most I&#8217;ve gone without is about 3-4 months, then spontaneously would have a cup. I love green tea, but sometimes I just want some coffee. Gosh, it smells so good when you walk by a coffee shop or someone else makes it in front of you! ha!</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">However, if I did chose to get some, I would make sure it was at least organic, since non- organic coffee is one of the most heavily sprayed crops filled with chemicals and pesticides. I would also have some in moderation and at times when my body was needing it. But, like everything else I teach about nutrition, it&#8217;s simply about becoming aware of your body and knowing how much is enough for you and when is the ideal moment to have it.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">I was actually researching coffee again to see if some new information has come up, and of-course, there was! In my search I found a great interview conducted by Dr. Joseph Mercola on <a href="http://getfitin6.activehosted.com/lt.php?c=328&amp;m=317&amp;nl=2&amp;s=bad97c655476f96a390a72c05a742011&amp;lid=2171&amp;l=-http--www.Mercola.com/">Mercola.com</a> , the worlds most visited holistic health site. (Mind you, Dr. Mercola has been on this coffee research for a while and has not been a proponent of coffee whatsoever.) But, after interviewing Ori Hofmekler, a guy whom I respect for both his research and extensive knowledge on the science of nutrition and fat loss, I think Dr. Mercola may start drinking more coffee. Ha!</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Below, I will give you the cliff note version of this fairly long interview as well as some other sources of research to give you the most important points about coffee so you can make the best choices and use for your benefit if you plan on drinking it.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">The <strong>GREAT COFFEE NEWS</strong> and some brand new tips and powerful information.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Benefits of <strong>BLACK</strong> Coffee (when choosing the right amount, kind, and time to drink it)</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">1. <strong>Fat Loss </strong>- Before workout 45-100mg, and even more on an empty stomach. ***Never EVER after a workout, it doesn&#8217;t allow muscles to recover and repair well since it inhibits the mechanism that builds muscle. (protein synthesis)</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;">2. <strong>Performance Enhancer </strong>- before workout 45-80mg</span></p>

Nowadays we are in a world where food is plenty and the foods we eat are addicting. So our opioid addictive receptors are being addicted to the wrong stuff. Great news is that good sourced, whole bean freshly ground coffee is an opioid receptor ANTAGONIST! Once these antagonist receptors occupy the opioid addictive receptors you will begin losing the addiction. and that goes for any addiction, so not just sugar, but also an addictive drug. It&#8217;s pretty amazing! You have to do this for a period of time and <strong>it has to be black coffee, no added sugar.</strong></span></p>

It is not organic and therefore has lots of chemicals and toxins which are harmful agents that cause sickness and inflammation to the body. If it doesn&#8217;t smell good don&#8217;t touch it! It&#8217;s most likely rancid. Cheap and old coffee have mold too that is tied to cancer, heart disease, high LDL cholesterol, and hormone irregularities. Roasting can kill off mold, but not the toxins that are present in the beans.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Here is what Ori says&#8230; &#8221; First of all, most coffee beans today still are unfortunately rancid, beaten, and packed from ground beans that cannot even survive a few weeks before they get stale.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Why You Want To Buy Whole Bean Coffee And Not Pre-Ground Coffee?</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">The rate of rancidity can go fast once you grind the beans. Basically, what you get is a degraded product with rancid oils inside. All that it gives you is just caffeine. It doesn&#8217;t give you the nutritional co-factor that you really desperately need. Second, many products actually contain isolate caffeine — synthetic caffeine — which is even worse.”</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">2. <strong>Don&#8217;t -Decaf Coffee.</strong> It has absolutely no nutritional value because of the processing and also the same toxins and rancidity takes place. Plus, caffeine protects the bean from more mold. In addition there is no added benefit for the brain since it is the caffeine in the freshly ground whole bean coffee that activates a mechanism in the brain (glutamate inhibition) that releases a growth factor for stem cells to convert into new neurons which research shows that people that drink whole freshly ground coffee have No Alzheimer&#8217;s or Parkinson&#8217;s disease. &#8220;A tea without caffeine is useless. It has lost all the bioflavonoids (antioxidants). Same with the coffee, the decaffeinated coffee has zero nutritional value.” says Ori.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;">3.<strong> Don&#8217;t-Robusta</strong> (cheap and instant) beans. More moldy. Go for Arabica beans.</span></p>

<p>For some reason, women like to use tiny little weights to work out their arms. But this won&#8217;t cut it unless you&#8217;re willing to work out your arms for 1-2 hours at a time. Who has time for that?</p>

<p>You can get better and faster results with a different method – full-body exercises!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Moves like pushups, pushup walkouts and triceps bench dips will really work your arms. And they&#8217;ll help you tone and build muscle, so your arms will be tight, not bulky or flabby. Some of these exercises also target the back and biceps, which is great because it&#8217;s important to work on the arms&#8217; antagonistic muscles. This helps with symmetry and proper function.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Plus, you&#8217;re going to be training other parts of your body at the same time. So while you&#8217;re creating amazing arms, you&#8217;ll also be whittling a sexy waistline!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a sample workout you can try to get rid of the jiggle and start creating sexy definition – take a look at the photos and descriptions below for more details:</p>

<p>1. Prone rear delts on ball or floor 15 reps no weight<br />2. Band Rows 15 reps<br />3. Get in the plank position on hands like a pushup position (hold 20 seconds)<br />4. Do 5 pushup walkouts or The Inchworm<br />5. Do 10 modified pushups or wall pushups</p>

<p><strong>Sample #2 (Intermediate):</strong></p>
<p><strong><br /></strong></p>
<p>1. Prone Rear Delts on ball or floor<br />2. Band Rows 12 reps ( stand back more for more resistance)<br />3. Do 5 pushup walkouts<br />4. Do 10 standard pushups<br />5. Open Close Plank 15 reps</p>

<p><strong>Sample #3 (Advanced):</strong></p>
<p><strong><br /></strong></p>
<p>1. Do 10 prone rear delts on ball or floor<br />2. Do 10 pushup walkouts<br />3. Do 10 bent over dumbbell row (moderate weight)<br />4. Do 10 pushups<br />5. Do 15 Single Leg standing band pulls</p>

I am always researching things to see what else I can improve in my training programs. Having done this for nearly 11 years, I know exercise like the back of my hand. I know the ins and outs. New Years PAARTTYYY is coming up and you can totally celebrate with amazing, yet totally healthy food. You should have seen the healthiest going away party my students threw for me; there was sushi, filet mignon, chimichurri sauce, bok-choy in coconut oil, lemon and garlic romaine salad, quinoa, veggie platter, and salmon. Dessert was tons of fresh berries and yogurt.</p>

<p>Everyone loved it! There is no question that YOU can also make  healthy and tasty food  everyone will remember you for. I am going to share with you other super yummy and healthy variations you can have as hors d&#8217;Oeuvres and dessert which are sooo easy to make!</p>

<p>You ready for this?!</p>
<p><strong><br /></strong></p>
<p><strong>Almond Crackers or Flaxseed crackers topped with any of the following:</strong></p>
<p>1. Sauteed asparagus in olive oil and garlic. Cook time is 5 min. on low heat.</p>
<p>2. Grape tomato and olive spread.</p>
<p>3. Olive spread and hummus.</p>
<p>4. Raw Cheddar Goat Cheese and organic deli chicken or turkey slice.</p>

<p><strong>Ingredients:</strong></p>

<p>1. Organic deli beef slices</p>
<p>2. 1 bundle of asparagus</p>
<p>3. mushrooms sliced</p>
<p>4. 1 tbsp. chopped garlic</p>
<p>5. Sea salt</p>
<p>6. Olive oil</p>
</blockquote>
<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><strong><br /></strong></span></p>
<p><strong>Directions:</strong></p>
<blockquote>
<p>1. Heat up a little olive oil on pan on low to medium heat.  </p>
<p>2. Place the asparagus, sliced mushroom and chopped garlic in a pan and sautee for about 5 min.</p>
<p>3. Remove from pan, add a pinch of sea salt and wrap two aspargus and one mushroom slice in the roast beef slices.</p>
<p>4. Done! </p>

<p><strong>Organic Raw Chocolate Coconut Balls! MY FAVORITE!</strong></p>
<p><strong><br /></strong></p>
<p><strong>Ingredients:</strong></p>
<blockquote>
<p>1. ½ cup of organic raw honey</p>
<p>2. 1 cup organic cacao powder</p>
<p>3. Raw Organic Almonds</p>
<p>4. Organic Coconut Flakes</p>
<p>5. ½ cup Coconut Oil</p>
</blockquote>
<p><strong><br /></strong></p>
<p><strong>Directions:</strong></p>
<blockquote>
<p>1. Place coconut flakes in a separate plate.</p>
<p>2. Melt the Coconut oil until liquid.</p>
<p>3. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Place in fridge for 30 min or until solid.</p>
<p>4. Scoop out balls with a spoon. Place on top of coconut flakes and roll around the chocolate coconut ball in it.</p>
<p>5. Done!</p>

<p>Note: Don&#8217;t let them sit out room temperature too long because they will melt.</p>

<p><strong>Raw Pumpkin Pie!</strong></p>

<p>2. 1 c Coconut Oil</p>
<p>3. 1 c Honey</p>
<p>4. 1 1/4 c Cashews</p>
<p>5. 1 tsp Vanilla</p>
<p>6. 2 TBS Orange Juice </p>
<p>7. 1/2 tsp Salt 1 tsp Cinnamon 1/2 tsp Nutmeg</p>
</blockquote>
<p><strong><br /></strong></p>
<p><strong>Ingredients For Crust:</strong></p>
<blockquote>
<p>1. 2 c Walnuts and Almonds mixed</p>
<p>2. 1/4 c Honey</p>
<p>3. 1/2 tsp Salt</p>
<p>4. 1 TBS Coconut Oil</p>
</blockquote>
<p><strong><br /></strong></p>
<p><strong>Directions:</strong></p>
<blockquote>
<p>1. Clean and cut pumpkin as fine as you can</p>
<p>2. Blend all the ingredients for the filling in a blender at high speed</p>
<p>3. Finely chop the nuts for your crust (preferably in a food processor)</p>
<p>4. Mix all the ingredients for the crust together in a large mixing bowl</p>
<p>5. Take a regular pie baking pan (can use the plastic or metal kind) and coat the crust mixture into bottom of pan making a layer on the bottom and up the sides    of the pan</p>
<p>6. Pour in filling mixture onto top of crust</p>
<p>7. 2 hours in freezer and serve!</p>
